I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) working in private practice in Colorado. Mindfulness is being aware of the present moment from a place of acceptance, rather than from a place of judgment. Mindfulness research suggests that engaging in mindfulness practices can benefit a person's well-being. Yet, some people find traditional mindfulness meditation practices to be inaccessible to them. Most people have no problem accessing music, though. Likewise, music can have a beneficial effect on a person's well-being. In this 60 minute class, you will discover ways you can use music as a mindfulness practice. You will also learn more about how and why music can be beneficial to your health. Faith will lead participants in music-based mindfulness practice, allowing time for questions and feedback.
The voice is an embodied instrument through which one can reveal, and learn, much about themselves. In this session, you will be given a brief, holistic overview of the voice. You will also be shown a few ways that you can use your voice to more comfortably embrace your authentic self.
